Event night
December 31, 2026
Private transportation for Times Square hotels, ticketed venues, dinners and celebrations, designed around the frozen zone rather than a false promise of curbside access to the Ball Drop.
The final 2026-27 NYPD traffic plan is not published yet.
The latest Times Square Alliance framework opens viewing areas in the afternoon and uses access from Sixth and Eighth Avenues at selected cross streets. Exact times and checkpoints can change for 2026-27, so the current official FAQ, venue instructions and NYPD direction control.

Times Square access
There is no single universal NYE drop-off. The correct plan depends on whether the passenger is joining a public viewing area or entering a specific business inside the controlled district.
Plan a drop outside the active Times Square perimeter and walk to an open official screening point. Viewing areas are first-come, first-served and can fill; a vehicle cannot hold a place or enter the viewing pen.
Ask the venue for its NYE arrival letter, entrance address and required proof of reservation. Send those instructions before booking because NYPD checkpoints may route business guests differently from public viewers.
Reconfirm the hotel loading entrance and the time vehicle access becomes restricted. A room key or reservation may be required at a pedestrian checkpoint, but it does not guarantee a private vehicle can reach the hotel curb.
Night-of plan
The inbound trip can be built to a reservation time. The outbound trip needs an outer meeting point, live confirmation and patience while pedestrian and vehicle controls change.
Get the venue-specific NYE entrance, ticket confirmation requirements and recommended checkpoint before choosing the drop-off.
For public viewing, follow the official opening guidance. For a business, use its arrival window. Do not plan a last-minute crosstown vehicle movement through Times Square.
Choose a location beyond the controlled core on the same side of Midtown as the final destination whenever possible. Dispatch reconfirms a legal curb when current closures are known.
Walk to the agreed area, confirm the vehicle description and wait for chauffeur communication. Do not move the meeting point repeatedly while streets reopen.
Travel-time planner
These ranges cover the vehicle segment only. Add walking and checkpoint time for Times Square, and widen every estimate as the afternoon closure plan expands.
| Starting point or movement | Vehicle planning range | Scheduling guidance | Why it varies |
|---|---|---|---|
| JFK to Times Square hotel, late morning | 55-90 min | Arrive before afternoon controls when possible | The checked booking-system route used 11 AM; later access can end outside the frozen zone. |
| LGA to Midtown West | 40-75 min | Add 30-60 min for final access | Queensboro or RFK routing and crosstown congestion can change quickly. |
| EWR to Midtown West | 45-90 min | Protect tunnel and perimeter margin | The final blocks may require a west-side outer drop and walk. |
| Upper East Side to Times Square area | 30-70 min | Avoid a late crosstown departure | A same-side outer drop can be more reliable than forcing the vehicle toward Broadway. |
| Downtown to Times Square area | 35-75 min | Leave 90-120 min before venue entry | Sixth Avenue access can be restricted in the latest official framework. |
| Outer pickup to downtown after midnight | 25-60 min once in vehicle | Add 30-90 min for walking and reopening | Crowd dispersal and police direction determine when the car can reach the agreed curb. |
These ranges are editorial planning estimates, not promised travel times. The exact pickup recommendation should be checked from the actual address, official event instruction and live traffic on the service date.

Price my tripCommercial decision
A pre-dinner transfer outside Times Square is straightforward. A Ball Drop itinerary inside the security district needs venue documentation and an outer-zone return.
| Service format | Best fit | How it works | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Early hotel transfer | Guests checking into Midtown before restrictions | Airport or city pickup is scheduled before the afternoon perimeter expands. | Hotel curb access later in the day still depends on NYPD and hotel guidance. |
| Ticketed-venue transfer | Restaurant, hotel or private event guests | The venue instruction is attached to the trip and the chauffeur approaches the permitted side. | A ticket does not guarantee the car can cross every barricade. |
| Hourly celebration service | Dinner plus a party or several stops outside the core | One reservation supports the confirmed itinerary and a coordinated final pickup. | Hourly service keeps the reservation active, but it does not authorize waiting in a restricted curb, security perimeter, parade route or race-control zone. The chauffeur must stage where current law-enforcement and event rules permit. |
| Post-midnight transfer | Passengers who can walk to a confirmed outer zone | The chauffeur meets outside the controlled center after both sides confirm the accessible curb. | Reopening times are progressive and cannot be guaranteed to the minute. |
Best when both curbs and the movement time are known.
Best for changing finish times, several stops or a coordinated return.
Best when a manifest, several vehicles or custom Sprinter pricing is required.
Public viewing
The official FAQ is designed for pedestrians, not private-car access. Treat its cross streets as screening guidance, not guaranteed vehicle drop-offs.
The latest framework uses Sixth or Eighth Avenue approaches.
Selected cross streets have been used for screening, but NYPD can change or close access as areas fill.
Do not plan to cross the viewing district by car.
Once controls are active, a passenger should stay on the side of Midtown that matches the chosen screening or venue entrance.
Leaving a viewing area can end the Ball Drop plan.
Follow current official instructions on bags, alcohol, bathrooms, weather and re-entry before deciding to attend public viewing.
Hotel and venue guests
Businesses inside Times Square frequently issue event-specific instructions because normal curb and pedestrian patterns do not apply.
Hotels can move loading to a side entrance.
The brand name on Broadway is not enough. Record the exact NYE entrance and the approach avenue.
Venue guests may need ticket or booking evidence.
Passenger documentation may help at a pedestrian checkpoint but does not create permission for the vehicle.
The same curb may not work after midnight.
Agree on an outer reunion zone and final destination instead of assuming the chauffeur will remain at the venue.
Before confirmation
Use this as the minimum information set for a reservation that can survive real event-day conditions.
Public viewing, hotel stay, restaurant seating or private event; each has a different access process.
Ticket or reservation, named entrance, official checkpoint guidance and one reachable passenger mobile.
Select the same side of Midtown as the destination and keep the car outside the controlled center.
Weather layers, charged phone, one meeting point, vehicle description and enough time for progressive street reopening.
Research standard
Event access is operational information, so first-party event and government instructions take priority over an old article, map estimate or marketing claim.
Detailed answers
These visible answers match the FAQ structured data on this page.
Not inside the public viewing pens. Once NYPD controls are active, public viewers enter on foot through official screening points. The chauffeur uses a legal location outside the active perimeter, and the passenger walks to the open checkpoint.
The latest Times Square Alliance framework has used selected cross streets from Sixth and Eighth Avenues. The exact 2026-27 plan can change, so use the current official FAQ and NYPD direction rather than an old map or a universal corner listed by a car service.
Possibly before controls tighten, but later access depends on the hotel's NYE instructions and NYPD. Send the hotel's current arrival letter and be prepared for an outer drop followed by a walk even if you have a room reservation.
The latest official framework opened viewing areas during the afternoon, and spaces filled first-come, first-served. Final 2026-27 opening times are not yet published here; check the official Times Square FAQ close to the event.
Use a pre-agreed outer zone on the same side of Midtown as your final destination, then reconfirm the exact legal curb with dispatch. Do not set the pickup inside Times Square or keep changing corners while barricades reopen.
It can be better for dinner and party stops outside the core or for a coordinated outer-zone return. It does not let the chauffeur park inside the frozen zone or guarantee a specific reopening time.
For a Times Square destination, add 30-60 minutes beyond the vehicle estimate for the final walk and screening. After midnight, allow 30-90 minutes for crowd dispersal, walking and progressive street reopening before the normal drive begins.
No. The sample is the online booking total returned for JFK to the Marriott Marquis at 11 AM on December 31 with two passengers and two bags. A later time, different curb, hourly duration, vehicle or selected option can change the current total.
